Management Team

Jason A. Gottlieb is a managing director and the chief executive officer and president of Artisan Partners. Prior to being appointed president of Artisan Partners in January 2021, Mr. Gottlieb served as the chief operating officer of investments. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in October 2016, Mr. Gottlieb was a partner and managing director at Goldman Sachs where he was a leader in the alternative investment and manager selection group and a portfolio manager on the Goldman Sachs Multi-Manager Alternatives Fund.

Mr. Gottlieb holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Siena College and a master’s degree in finance from Fordham University.

Eric R. Colson, CFA, is a managing director and the executive chair of Artisan Partners. Prior to being appointed executive chair, Mr. Colson served as the chief executive officer of Artisan Partners from January 2010 to June 2025. Prior to that time, Mr. Colson served as the chief operating officer for Investment Operations. He joined Artisan Partners as a managing director in January 2005. Mr. Colson began his career at Callan Associates, Inc. where he ultimately managed the institutional consulting group, providing business and investment advice to asset management firms.

Mr. Colson holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California-Irvine.

Charles (C.J.) Daley Jr. is a managing director and the chief financial officer of Artisan Partners. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in July 2010, Mr. Daley was principal, chief financial officer and treasurer of the global asset management firm Legg Mason, Inc. 

Mr. Daley holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland. He is an inactive Certified Public Accountant.

Christopher J. Krein is a managing director and the head of Global Distribution for Artisan Partners. Prior to his current role, Mr. Krein was responsible for institutional marketing and client service for the Artisan Partners Developing World Team. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in September 2015, Mr. Krein was head of institutional distribution at WisdomTree Asset Management where he was responsible for marketplace research, product placement and formulating a distribution strategy.

Mr. Krein holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from DeSales University.

Eileen L. Kwei, CFA, is a managing director and the chief administrative officer of Artisan Partners. From February 2018 to February 2021, Ms. Kwei was responsible for institutional marketing and client service for the Artisan Partners Credit Team. Prior to February 2018, Ms. Kwei was a relationship manager for the Artisan Partners Global Equity Team. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in June 2013, Ms. Kwei was a principal and senior investment consultant at Mercer Investments. 

Ms. Kwei holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California-Berkeley.

Gregory K. Ramirez is a managing director and the head of Vehicle and Investor Operations for Artisan Partners. He also serves as chair of the Artisan Risk and Integrity Committee. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in July 1997, Mr. Ramirez was an audit manager with Price Waterhouse, focusing on investment company audits and reviewing transfer agency controls. 

Mr. Ramirez holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in business administration from Marquette University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Samuel B. Sellers is a managing director and the chief operating officer of Artisan Partners. Prior to his current role, Mr. Sellers was head of Investment Operations from January 2021 to January 2023. Previously, he served as deputy general counsel of the firm. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in April 2013, Mr. Sellers practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP.

Mr. Sellers holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Kansas and a juris doctor from the University of Chicago Law School.

Laura E. Simpson is a managing director and the chief legal officer of Artisan Partners. Ms. Simpson was named general counsel of Artisan Partners in October 2022 and previously served as deputy general counsel and associate counsel of the firm. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in March 2011, she was counsel at Invesco.

Ms. Simpson holds a bachelor’s degree in history and Russian from Amherst College and a juris doctor from Vanderbilt Law School.
